    4. This is a very informative book for beginning book collectors. From how to identify first editions, to what types of books to look for when building a library of worth, Mr. Budman gives a very good overall look at what one needs to be aware of while starting a book collection. 5. I became interested in book collecting after reading John Dunning's Bookman Series. While I wasn't especially taken with the plots of these books I found the descriptions of books and book collecting intriguing. Since then I have ventured very modestly ventured into this hobby. In an attempt to educate myself I have looked for sources of information and instruction. This little book provides the novice collector with a good introduction to the hobby as well as providing numerous resource tips.

    6. Maybe it being titled "Instant Expert" kind of out me off from going four stars. A solid introductory volume, yes. Instant expertise in a relatively slim volume of 172 pages, no. Still I finished feeling better educated and knowing more of what questions to ask to actually achieve a level of expertise.
