    1. Another good addition to the life of Akitada This one doesn't involve many of the usual cast, as it mostly takes place on a short trip to the capital while he is stationed elsewhere. The first half unfolds fairly slowly and there is a lot of family/domestic stuff happening, but the pace picks up with a couple of smaller cases. There's some melancholy relations near the end which make me long for the next book! His sister Akiko appears quite a bit in this book as well.

    4. The editing has gotten better. Only a / where a . should be and few commas in the wrong place. Once I noticed wording should be flipped to indicate speaking i.e. fooled the people listening only probably should have been fooled only the people listening. The murder of the prince was never solved; only left to history.I would gladly be an unpaid editor for I. J. Parker for any of her Sugawara Akitada novels. But a great story and have high hopes of the next book. Starting in about an hour.
