    1. Well I made it to page 50but it was putting me to sleep. The plot had potential to be interesting but it was just taking too long to get there. Plus between the over the top narrative and the absurd dialogue it was just difficult to read. DNF

    2. Review forthcoming on a-reader-lives-a-thousand-live Scoundrel for Hire is book 1 of the Velvet Lies series. I received this book as a part of the blog tour for book 3 in the series, Seduced by an Angel. A review of the second book, His Wicked Dream is forthcoming.Silver's father is planning to marry Celestia, a fortune teller who Silver believes is just after her father's money. In an attempt to dupe Cellie into betraying her father, Silver employs Rafe, a professional actor, to seduce her. Lit [...]

    4. Ms. deWolfe has created an entertaining series starter that brings together two apparently different people under the guise of a scam that doesn't go as planned. When emotions get in the way and the past comes back to haunt them their burgeoning relationship might be over before it starts in this historical read populated by colorful characters and flashes of the supernatural.Rafe grew up as a constant reminder of his mother's shame. His religiously over zealous father constantly belittled and d [...]

    5. I’ve only just started reading historical romance novels, so really don’t have much to compare to. As I tend to prefer urban fantasy and paranormal romance where the plots are fast paced and the romance is secondary – I really read Scoundrel for Hire with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised by this western romance that still had a few paranormal touches in.The pace was steady and there were enough twists and turns to keep you wanting to read more. It was humorous and the main charact [...]

    7. The first book in the Velvet Lies series and a reread for me, although I first read the book many many years ago and remembered very little from that read other than that I enjoyed the book.I think the intervening years changed my opinion somewhat, although I still enjoyed the book overall. I thought there was some good witty dialogue in there, and Rafe was very likeable. I had a bit of trouble warming to Silver, and found some of the stuff towards the end of the book overly melodramatic.Overall [...]

    8. A hero you can love! From the first page, your heart will break for Raphael. He's a boy in an untenable position, whose only option on Christmas Day, is to head out on his own. For the next 15 years, he does whatever it takes to get by, which mostly involves being a con artist. It's in this role that he meets our heroine, Silver. The oh-so-proper miss doesn't turn him in; instead, she hires him to pull a con.But who's conning who? In a classic slapstick style, everyone has a secret agenda.Throw in [...]

    9. I wanted a fun, fluffy romance novel for my holiday weekend trip to the shore and thought this would fit the bill. While it was an interesting read and parts of it were really good, it wasn't quite what I was looking for. It starts off very slowly and not much happens until almost halfway through the book, and then the end seemed rushed to me. While it's a fun book, I wouldn't pick it up again. Luckily it's a self-contained story because I'm not going to continue with the series.

    10. I really enjoyed all of the twists and turns of this story as well as the development of the characters. I like when a romance is more about the emotional and mental connection of the characters and how both Rafe and Silver had issues from their past to work through and how they found balance in each other. An enjoyable read.

    11. I loved this book it was quirky, funny and delightful. I fell in love with the hero right away. The herione can be a little frustrating at times but thatis what makes you root for these lovers. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. Can not wait to read the books about our Heros siblings in the rest of this series.

Fun filled frolic think the Unsinkable Molly BrownWestern tale of rich miners daughter, con man, baby otter, etc. This rich well-written tale with a variety of villains and cleverly designed characterization will keep you mesmerized through the whole book. Adult reader due to violence and sexual content.

    13. It's probably going to take forever for me to read this book. So far I'm only at the prolouge but it's pretty boring. His stepfather and older stepbrother are very angry people and the religious/paranormal angle is tired and strange. I'll give it a good try but I'm definitely yawning already. Romance novels shouldn't produce that effect.

    15. Cute story and great beach read. I got this book as a Friday Free nook book and read it in Hawaii. It dragged in a few places, but not enough to make me quit reading. I can't stand paranormal romance, but the author worked the spirit angle into the story well. I would read another book by this author.

    17. It took me a while to get into it (at first). However once I delved into it the male protagonist (Rafe) was actually very unique and the love story was pretty deep. If you like Western Romances, Adrienne deWolfe is pretty reliable.
